Sorce: The Indie Fragrance House That Makes Whimsy Feel Serious
Sorce is one of the more interesting indie houses we carry — and one of the harder ones to explain to someone who hasn't tried them. The names are playful, sometimes whimsical, occasionally absurd. The fragrances themselves are anything but. There's a seriousness underneath the storytelling that makes Sorce worth paying attention to.
What Sorce Is
Sorce is an independent fragrance house built around a specific creative sensibility: fragrance as narrative. Every release has a name that tells a story, a mood, or a moment. Where the Wild Things Grow. Match Made in Heaven. This is Not a Love Spell. The names aren't marketing — they're the brief the perfumer works from, and it shows in how the fragrances actually smell.
The house works primarily in the gourmand, floral, and soft-warm space — but with more nuance and restraint than most houses operating in those categories. Sorce fragrances tend to be skin-close, layerable, and genuinely wearable in a way that a lot of indie gourmands aren't. They're not trying to be the loudest thing in the room.
The Current Lineup
Sorce Beyond the Veil — Iris · Violet · Powdery · Floral
Soft, powdery iris and violet — creamy and skin-close. One of the more refined things in the Sorce lineup and a good starting point if you're new to the house.
Sorce In Dreams and Fairytales Pistachio — Gourmand · Nutty · Sweet · Creamy
The pistachio variation of the In Dreams series — nutty, creamy, and genuinely interesting. Less sweet than you'd expect, more complex than the name suggests.
Sorce Cabanilla — Floral · Woody · Soft
One of the quieter Sorce releases — a soft floral with woody depth. Understated and wearable, the kind of fragrance that works without announcing itself.
Sorce Where the Wild Things Grow — Green · Earthy · Floral · Fresh
The most outdoorsy thing in the Sorce lineup — green, earthy, and alive. A good option for people who want something from the house that leans away from the gourmand direction.
Sorce This is Not a Love Spell — Floral · Musk · Soft · Sweet
Despite the disclaimer in the name, it kind of is. A soft, musky floral that wears close to the skin — the kind of fragrance people ask about when you're wearing it.
Sorce Stuck On You — Vanilla · Musk · Sweet · Warm
A warm, skin-close vanilla musk — the Sorce take on a comfort fragrance. Soft and enveloping without being heavy. One of the most wearable things in the lineup.
Sorce Match Made in Heaven — Floral · Sweet · Powdery · Musk
A soft, sweet floral with powdery musk depth. The name fits — it's an easy, crowd-pleasing combination executed well.
Sorce In Dreams and Fairytales Vanilla — Vanilla · Gourmand · Creamy · Sweet
The vanilla anchor of the In Dreams series — warm, creamy, and deeply comfortable. A benchmark for what Sorce does in the gourmand space.
Sorce In Dreams and Fairytales Strawberry Rosewater — Fruity · Floral · Sweet · Rose
Strawberry and rosewater — bright, fresh, and feminine without being cloying. The most summery thing in the In Dreams series.
Sorce Falling Stars Salted Vanilla Sweet Cream — Vanilla · Salty · Creamy · Gourmand
The salted vanilla — the contrast between the salt and the sweet cream is what makes this one interesting. More nuanced than a straight vanilla gourmand, and one of the more talked-about Sorce releases.
Coming Soon
Sorce A Party or Something — Coming Soon
On the radar. The name alone earns a spot on the list — we're expecting something celebratory, effervescent, and probably more interesting than it has any right to be. Watch this space.
Sorce Sit for a Spell — Coming Soon
Another incoming Sorce release we're keeping an eye on. If the name is any indication, expect something warm, unhurried, and deeply comfortable. More details when they land.
How to Approach the House
If you're new to Sorce, start with whatever name resonates. That's not a joke — the house is built around emotional storytelling, and the names are genuinely descriptive of the experience. If Stuck On You sounds like what you want to smell like, it probably is.
The In Dreams and Fairytales series is a good entry point for gourmand lovers — try the vanilla first, then branch into pistachio or strawberry rosewater depending on which direction interests you. Beyond the Veil is the right starting point if you want something more floral and refined.
All of these are available as decants. Sample before you commit — that's always the point.
